Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) Level 2 (VTQ)
About the Course
Are you aware of your responsibilities in a caring role and how do you apply the DOLS and the Mental Capacity Act in your care setting. What would you do when you are faced with issues of safeguarding a vulnerable person at risk.? The restriction of a person’s liberties is a serious matter and the Deprivation of liberties and safeguards ensures the protection of human rights when a vulnerable person is placed in the care of a care home and hospital. Safe care is the ultimate goal of care practice and this course will enhance your knowledge and understanding of the rules and planning to be done to meet compliance.
The Mental Capacity Act (2005) includes the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS). The protection of people in care homes and hospitals from being wrongfully deprived of their liberty is the goal of Deprivation of Liberty, also known as DOLs and/or safeguards. To ensure that a care home or hospital only restricts someone's liberty safely and correctly, and this is done when there is no other way to take care of that person, the DOLs (safeguards) have been established. The rules and planning required to ensure compliance and understanding are covered in this course. Both our classroom and e-learning courses include ProTrainings as Skills for Care Endorsed. Skills for Care expects our training to meet high standards, which it does.
This course is offered in either a full-time or half-day format, with a three-hour guided learning session provided by our authorized teachers all around the country.
